Episode 29 - Roland Reezigt - What should clinicians learn about pain?
Roland Reezigt discusses the existing discrepancy between what is taught to physiotherapy students at university and the actual skills and knowledge needed in the field. To address this issue, Roland and Anneke Beetsma launched a Delphi study with the aim of identifying, through consensus, the essential pain-related topics that should be included in the undergraduate physical therapy curriculum. This groundbreaking study has united all universities in an effort to shape the curriculum and equip future physiotherapists with the appropriate skill set and knowledge. As a result, a new project has emerged, marking an exciting step towards improving the quality of physiotherapy education.
Roland Reezigt is a PhD Candidate, Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Neuromechanics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a Physiotherapist and Manual therapist and a Lecturer at Hanze Hogeschool University of Applied Sciences.
